My laptop hard drive failed. I purchased a new hdd, and I need to reinstall vista. Where can I download what I need?
There isn't any legal way to download any Vista Operating System from the internet. If you didn't make your own System Recovery Disks at the start, then you only have a couple of options. You can borrow a friends Vista System Recovery Disks as long as they're the exact same version of Vista as you had installed. This is perfectly legal because you owned a legal copy of Vista. Just make sure that you re-activate the re-install with Microsoft using your original Windows Product Key that's affixed to the computer. Or, download oem vistaif you can't find an exact copy of your old Vista system, you can purchase whatever Vista version you like and install it as a new installation. Next time though, be sure to make that backup set of Recovery Disks just in case you'd have another hard drive failure. The "D" Recovery partition on the hard drives these days, is supposed to take the place of the recovery disks the manufacturers used to send with the computer. They stopped doing that to save money, and now just put the System Recovery on a separate partition, the "D" Recovery partition so you can perform a System Recovery if that is your only option. Budownload oem vistat, if the hard drive is the part that fails, the D partition does no good at all. That's why you need the set of System Recovery Disks, so you can install a new hard drive and copy the old hard drive os to the new hard drive and begin again. Hope you're able to borrow a Vista Recovery Disk set. If not, you may want to consider moving on up to Windows 7. Good luck!
You want to download Windows for free?
People go to jail for that.
You should have backed up your ISO.
Otherwise you will need to buy a new disk.
Sorry :(
Contact the Manufacturer of the LapTop, it's that simple
