You can download before uninstalling Avast, but don't install MSE until you have uninstalled Avast. Never free antivirus download microsoft security essentialsrun two anti-virus programs at a time. Uninstall Avast if you wish to use MSE. I use MSE. It runs great, and has the smallest footprint of any virus scan I've free antivirus download microsoft security essentialsever seen.
Remove Avast first. Only have one anti-virus program installed. Having more than one at best just slows your computer.
Keep avast, much better
